Abstract

Prehospital critical care has undergone significant advancements over the past decades, driven by the need for rapid, effective interventions to stabilize patients in acute trauma scenarios. Paramedics play a pivotal role in delivering life-saving care in the prehospital setting, bridging the gap between the scene of injury and definitive care facilities. This review explores recent innovations in paramedic-led interventions for acute trauma, focusing on airway management, hemorrhage control, fluid resuscitation, and the integration of advanced technologies such as portable ultrasound and telemedicine. Emerging practices, such as the use of prehospital blood products and tranexamic acid, have revolutionized trauma care by addressing critical needs during the golden hour. The deployment of advanced airway devices, alongside evolving training protocols, has improved patient outcomes in cases of severe respiratory compromise. Furthermore, the adoption of point-of-care diagnostics and real-time communication tools has enhanced decision-making capabilities, allowing paramedics to initiate targeted treatments based on precise clinical data.
